Frame Technologies
We've been developing assistive technology and communication aids/systems since 1995. Now, everything has changed--we are standing at the threshold of an exciting new era in digital convergence.......
Welcome
We thank you for your incredible support over the
past 11 years. With the ever-increasing pace of developments in voice and multimedia recording, storage, and retrieval we find that most of our assistive technology products are becoming obsolete!! Although we  will continue to offer all the products we have in the past, and will continue to provide repair and service for these products , we are excited about moving in a new direction.
There is a flood of multi-featured "personal media players" (PMP's) being produced in China, Korea, and Southeast Asia (think MP3 players, webpads, handheld video games, personal digital assistants (PDA's) of all varieties, and handheld media players). Many of these devices have as much--or even more--power and capability as single-purpose dedicated communication devices costing thousands of dollars. They run in price from sub $100.00 to a maximum of $800.00. And they all run some variation of Linux, an open-source, public domain operating system. In other words--it's FREE! Some vendors even provide free or low-cost development platforms to encourage programmers to write innovative software for their products. Above, you will see pictures of just a few of the devices which are capable of being used as very low cost, dynamic display communication aids.

Here's an update on the "$100.00 Laptop Project" or "OLPC" that is being developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  Think about the implications---a $100.00 dynamic display communication aid for EVERY non-speaking child?!!  Click HERE

NEW! ORIGAMI (it's not just about Japanese paper-folding!)  Long rumored, MicroSoft's new UMPC  platform is coming down the pike this Spring.  Putting the power of a desktop computer in the palm of your hand, the UMPC runs Windows XP. With a color 7" touchscreen, the handheld tablet computer is expected to be priced between $800.00 to $1000.00  Three vendors have already announced products.....Click  Here      Here    or Here .

NEW!  The NOKIA 770.  A Linux-based webpad with 4" touchscreen optimized for wirelessly surfing the Internet.  It comes enabled with the Flash 6.0 player.  Price:  $349.00  Click Here to go to Nokia's website.

Coming soon!  All about the "Open Source" movement.  Why do so many talented and dedicated programmers use Linux for developing cool software, and then just give it away.  Hint:  it's all about empowerment of the individual .

Coming soon!  How Digital Convergence and Open Source are poised to make assistive technology become affordable for "the rest of us."
